Professional Affiliations

We have provided you with a list of our professional affiliations as both a source of education and as an introduction into who we are and how we practice.

Both Dr. Morales and Dr. Matthews are Fellows in ACOG as well as board certified in OB/GYN and subspecialty board certified in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (REI). Both of our physicians have been honored to part of the select group physician who been chosen nationally to serve as board examiners: Dr. Morales as a subspecialty board examiner in REI and Dr. Matthews, as in Obstetrics and Gynecology. In addition, Dr. Morales served as the Chairman of the National Ethics Committee. Both Dr. Morales and Dr. Matthews support advanced training in OB/GYN and REI. The American Society of Reproductive Medicine is a national and international organization dedicated to the advancement of reproductive medicine. Dr. Morales is the current Chairman Elect of the Women’s Council. Both Dr. Morales and Dr. Matthews maintain an active presence in the society. The ASRM has a wealth of information for patients with respect to managing their reproductive health and patients are encouraged to use this as a resource.

 

Fertility Specialists Medical Group has been a member of the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology since FSMG’s inception in 2000. Dr. Morales has served as Chairman of the National Registry Committee and on the Executive Council. Dr. Morales and Dr. Matthews continue to support the Society’s mission of improving the standards of medical practice in assisted reproductive technology for both patients and providers.

 

Reproductive Endocrinologists are Obstetrician-Gynecologists with advanced education, research and professional skills in Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility. These highly trained and qualified physicians treat Reproductive Disorders that affect children, women, men, the mature woman, and infertility in both men and women. SREI Membership requires certification by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology in both Obstetrics and Gynecology and the subspecialty of Reproductive Endocrinology. As both Dr. Morales and Dr. Matthews are certified in OBGYN and REI, they have been members since 1995 and 2001 respectively.

 

We are proud to be a participating provider in Fertile Hope, which was created to provide reproductive information, support and hope to cancer patients and survivors whose medical treatments present the risk of infertility.

 

Resolve is a national infertility association established in 1974 for the purpose of improving the lives of women and men living with infertility. Fertility Specialists Medical Group has been a long time supporter of both the national and local chapter of Resolve. Dr. Morales and Dr. Matthews both have served as speakers at local meetings and recommend Resolve as a resource to their patients.

 

The AAAASF accreditation has been recognized as the Gold Standard for ambulatory surgery centers. The San Diego Center for Reproductive Surgery was designed and built to meet these standards and has been accredited since its opening in 2006.

 

Fertility Specialists Medical Group is a participant in a continuous program of quality control for laboratory testing (Embryology, Andrology and Chemistry) certified by the American Association of Bioanalysts. This testing satisfies the requirements to obtain our CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments) license in Andrology and Chemistry.

 

The College of American Pathologists in collaboration with the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has produced an accreditation program to achieve the highest standards of laboratory excellence with respect to improving patient care. While not required, FSMG has achieved accreditation in the following specialties: Embryology, Andrology, and Chemistry (blood hormonal testing: Estradiol(E2), Progesterone(P4), βhCG(pregnancy)).
